Sweet Abby

Most mornings this is what I see out my bedroom window looking out towards the barn.

There’s Abby waiting patiently for me to come down to the barn.  She’s such a sweet faithful cat.

It was even raining lightly this morning and she was still waiting.  If it’s raining too much she waits for me in the barn and greets me as I open the door.   But must mornings she’s out there sitting, waiting for me and then she walks with me to the barn for morning chores.  Her quiet companionship is such a joy to me.

He's Back

This is Scar.

This a picture of him on one of his better days.  The name Scar is quite appropriate.  We haven't seen him for about a week but that's not unusual.  He is a stray that adopted us.

He showed up this morning looking really battered with a large crook in his tail.  I guess he's been out cattin around again.  I wish I had a picture but he disappeared before I could get my camera.

When Scar first started hanging around our place he was very shy and skittish.  But eventually we won him over and now he's very sweet and affectionate.  The problem is, he usually has so many wounds and scabs it's not real pleasant to pet him.  I usually pet him with my barn gloves on. But he loves to be petted and rolls around and purrs.

I know I should load him up and take him to be neutered and cared for by the vet, but I just dread trying to do that.  He wouldn't take it well at all.  It could get real ugly.  Maybe I'll put it on Spring list of things to do.  Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow.

The Barn Girls

These are the Barn Girls.  There's Abby.  Sweet, quiet, timid, and loyal.

She waits for me at the top of the hill morning, noon, and night and walks down to the barn with me and sits nearby while I feed and do barn chores.

Then at night after feeding and chores I turn off all the lights on one side of the barn and this is her signal that it's bedtime.  She hops onto her chair and waits for me to tuck her in.  Then I give her some lovin, say Good Night, and close up the barn for the night.  She's my girl.  Such a sweetie.

Then there's Emma.

She's very chatty (in a good way), very brave, and oh so soft and fluffy.  Even though she is considered a barn cat she can be found all over the place; on my truck, on the porch, my husbands workbarn.  She is the Belle of the Barn.  Everybody loves Emma.

And last but certainly not least is Gracie.

For some reason I only have but one picture of Gracie and it isn't a very good one.  I guess she's always off doing Gracie things.  She hangs out in the tack room.  Alot.  For some reason several of the male cats around seem to pick on Gracie.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe she is thumbing her nose at them in cat speak.  I don't know.  But she likes the safety of the tack room.

That's the Barn Girls.  We also have five other cats but that's for another time.  Yes, w are bordering on being those weird cat hoarder people, but we don't have rodent problems.  Only deer problems, but that's for another time also.
